[UPDATE BELOW] A 20-year-old woman was repeatedly slashed by a female assailant in a LaGuardia Airport bathroom yesterday morning, and officials say the suspect was attempting to snatch her purse.
The incident reportedly happened at around 11 a.m., at a restroom near the ticket counters in the airport's Terminal B. Neither party involved had been through security yet—the victim told reporters she was bound for Florida on her way back home to Ecuador. She also told officials that she knew her attacker and that she'd received a threatening call from a woman the day prior, though it's unclear whether those incidents are connected.
The victim, who suffered minor wounds to her arm and stomach, was treated at Forest Hills Hospital. No arrests have been made.
The Port Authority has not yet responded to request for comment.
Update 11:04 a.m.: A source with the Port Authority confirmed that the victim and suspect knew each other prior to yesterday's attack and were involved in some sort of dispute at the time. No knife was recovered at the scene.
