A woman allegedly attacked a 28-year-old man in Crown Heights this week, throwing a rock at him and shouting, "Hitler should have killed you all."
According to the NYPD, the incident took place near the corner of Franklin Avenue and Dean Street just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The victim had been standing outside of a building worksite when the woman threw a rock "capable of causing injury," which ricocheted off his boot. Police say she then fired off the "Hitler" remark before fleeing on foot. The man reportedly denied medical attention.
The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force has been notified of the incident, and a police spokesperson confirmed that an investigation is ongoing. They add that no arrests have been made yet. JPUpdates reports that man works as a construction manager and is, in fact, Jewish.
The incident is not the first time that Hitler has been name-dropped by suspects in Crown Heights hate crimes. In 2014 a group of teens decimated a Troy Avenue deli after repeatedly shouting "Heil Hitler" around its owners. DNAInfo notes that two teenage bike-riders also shouted "Heil Hitler" before running over a Jewish man's foot last August.
