Arrest charges were pending early Tuesday for the ex-boyfriend of a woman who was found shot in the head and buried in a shallow grave in Queens over the weekend, according to police.

The body of 35-year-old Seraphina Pereira was discovered near a cricket field in the Edgemere neighborhood in the Rockaways just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, officials said. On Monday, the city’s Chief Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide, and police said they had Pereira’s ex-boyfriend in custody.

Pereira was reported missing from her home in NYCHA’s Ocean Bay apartments on the morning of Oct. 19, according to the NYPD. Her body was found about half a mile away from where she lived.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
