Police said they are investigating the death of a woman who was found unconscious with head injuries on a Lower East Side sidewalk Sunday.
NYPD officers responded to a 911 call around 7:45 a.m. to Broome and Columbia streets, near the Williamsburg Bridge and Luther Gulick Park, according to officials. When they arrived, they discovered an unresponsive woman lying on the sidewalk with head trauma.
Emergency medical workers pronounced her dead at the scene, police said. Detectives were still working Monday to identify her and notify her family.
Police did not make any immediate arrests in the case.
This is a developing story based on preliminary information from police and may be updated.
