A 37-year-old woman died after falling out of a moving car on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway early Sunday morning.

Police said the woman opened the rear door of a Toyota Highlander and tumbled out of the car at around 2:30 a.m. The vehicle was travelling westbound on the BQE and approaching exit 28 near the Brooklyn Bridge.

The woman was struck by a Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 33-year-old man, that was heading in the same direction.

An NYPD spokesperson said the woman suffered severe trauma from the collision, and first responders declared her dead at the scene.

The woman’s identity has not yet been released as police work to notify her family. Police said the driver of the Hyundai was a 29-year-old man.

The two vehicles never made contact, according to police, and both drivers remained on the scene to speak with investigators.

No arrests have been made. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
