Police arrested a man accused of attacking a woman in her East 7th Street apartment early on New Year's Day. According to the Post, passers-by heard the victim yelling, "Please don't rape me!"
The suspect, Antony Griggs, apparently followed the woman into the building. He "allegedly grabbed her around her neck, forced her upstairs and pounced on her in a hallway, biting her during the vicious attack." After hearing the victim's cries, the good Samaritans were able to find some cops who stopped the attack.
Griggs was hit with many charges including first degree attempted rape and strangulation. The Post adds, "Sources said Griggs was arrested in 2005 on similar charges after two EMTs rescued a Brooklyn woman who was being sexually assaulted in her Bedford-Stuyvesant home."
