Late Wednesday, the NYPD asked for the public's assistance to find a man accused of a raping a woman in her Williamsburg apartment and released a video of the suspect. Now investigators have made an arrest: Laye Kaba, 31, was charged rape, burglary, stalking, sexual abuse, strangulation, unlawful imprisonment and menacing.

The victim, who did not know her attacker, lives on Kent Avenue between North 4 and North 7 Streets. She was allegedly strangled by a scarf before she was raped. According to the Post, "Police searched nearby homeless shelters for the suspect, who was allegedly caught on surveillance camera. Someone staying at a shelter identified him as having lived there, and he was taken into custody when he went to pick up his mail, police sources said."

Kaba has over 20 prior arrests, "including busts for robbery, assault, grand larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance."
