In the biggest flatulence-related lawsuit since the landmark case of He Who Smelt It v. He Who Dealt It, a Pennsylvania woman is suing her husband's former employer, a Trenton pork roll company, over allegations that the man was fired for farting too much.
According to the suit filed by Louann Clem, her 70-year-old husband Richard Clem was fired from the Case Pork Roll Company in Trenton last year, all due to complaints about the "extreme gas and uncontrollable diarrhea" he suffered post-gastric bypass surgery. The smell was apparently so intense it overpowered the pork roll smell, causing "a significant disruption in the workplace."
Apparently, the company's president was pretty cruel about Richard Clem's uncontrollable flatulence, and he was fired in February. Louann Clem, who also worked for the company, quit in solidarity, claiming the company's president would frequently make comments to her like, "Tell Rich that we are getting complaints from visitors who have problems with the odors."
Louann is suing under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act and the state Law Against Discrimination, and hopefully any financial restitution will cover a lifetime supply of Beano.
