After an abundance of rain across the area yesterday (generally between one and two inches), we are set for a couple of very dry days. High pressure arriving from the west has shut down any chance of rain for today and tomorrow. Instead, look for mostly sunny skies, a strong northwesterly wind, and a high in the low 50s this afternoon. Saturday, the fourth anniversary of superstorm Sandy making landfall, will be as pleasant as it gets in late October as the winds will start coming out of the southwest and warm us into the 60s.
Despite a cold front passing through the city on Saturday night, Sunday will be the warmest day of the next week. Sunday's high will be somewhere in the mid 60s to near 70 degrees. The price we have to pay for that warmth is a mostly cloudy day and a good chance of rain in the late afternoon and evening.
Dry weather will return on Monday as a surface high pushes the old cold front away and ridging aloft suppresses any chance of clouds. Halloween should be sunny with a high in the mid 50s, which is just a few degrees below normal. Mild, dry weather, with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s looks to be on the way for much of next week.
