A water main break at 102nd Street and Central Park West on the Upper West Side disrupted service to eight buildings Wednesday afternoon, just a day before Thanksgiving, authorities said.
City officials said the Department of Environmental Protection had shut off water in the area around 3 p.m. to address the issue.
The MTA has since restored subway service on the A, B, C and D lines, which had been briefly affected, authorities said. To assist affected residents, "water on the go" stations were set up nearby, ensuring access to potable water during the repairs, officials said.
Mayor Eric Adams praised DEP Commissioner Rohit Aggarwala and his team for their response at an unrelated news conference on Wednesday night. Repairs are ongoing, authorities said, and officials have not yet provided an estimated timeline for full restoration.
Residents in the area were encouraged to remain alert for updates.
