A 21-year-old man's attempt to buy tickets on the secondary market turned into a violent robbery last week, police say.
The incident took place on a Manhattan sidewalk, in front of 408 East 92nd Street, around 3 p.m. on May 7. According to the NYPD, the victim agreed to meet a female there in order to "purchase tickets to an event. Once at the location, a second individual, a male, approached the victim from behind and placed him in a chokehold. The male dragged the victim to the ground and removed his cell phone."
An NYPD spokesperson could not say what events the supposed tickets were for. Surveillance video shows the victim talking to the female, and then being attacked:
The male suspect, last seen wearing a dark colored baseball cap, a yellow metal necklace, a blue and white shirt, black sweatpants and black and white sneakers, fled in an SUV while the female suspect, described as having dark-colored hair and last seen wearing a green long sleeved shirt and light blue jeans, fled in an unknown direction.
Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
