The NYPD is searching for a driver who plowed into a pedestrian crossing the street in Staten Island last Wednesday. Video released by police shows the collision, which the pedestrian fortunately survived.
According to investigators, an unnamed 55-year-old woman was crossing Huguenot Avenue east to west when the driver of a dark-colored four-door sedan rammed into her around 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5th.
Security camera video shows the driver reversing after striking the woman in front of 882 Huguenot Avenue. Police say the driver then fled northbound on Huguenot, leaving the victim lying in the street.
EMS rushed the woman to Staten Island University Hospital, where she was listed in serious but stable condition and treated for bruising to her back and left leg.
Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
