[UPDATE BELOW] It's been two years since John Lennon's killer was up for parole, and now he's just faced the board again. Mark David Chapman's original sentence was for 20 years to life, and since being put behind bars in 1981 he's been up for parole (now) eight times.

According to the Daily News he was interviewed by state parole officials earlier this week. They note that Yoko Ono is continuing to fight his release. In the past, she has declared, "It's dangerous for him to come out. Not only for us, but for himself. There are so many people out there who dislike him. It's safer for him to stay in jail." She also fears for herself and her two sons.

A decision is expected today, but may take longer—however, most agree he will remain behind bars for life. In 2000, the parole board said his release would "deprecate the seriousness of the crime and serve to undermine respect for the law."

UPDATE: The parole board has denied Chapman parole, which is just fine by us.
