The police are hoping the public can help them identify an adorable little girl who was found abandoned at a Harlem Subway shop late last night—and offer details about the man who left her there. Update: The girl's father was arrested. More details below.
According to the NYPD, the little girl, who is apparently three years old and named Natalie, entered the Subway restaurant at 281 Saint Nicholas Avenue at 11:23 p.m. with an unknown male who "purchased a sandwich for the child then left the location" and a social worker who happened to be at the restaurant "observed the abandoned child and escorted her to 26th precinct."
The girl was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, where she was treated and released into the custody of the Administration of Children's Services.
Police released photographs of Natalie, who is about two feet tall and 25 pounds and has brown eyes with straight brown hair. She was found wearing a light green dress with polka dots, pink pants and blue sneakers.
The person of interest who bought her a sandwich is described as a black male named Stanley, who is 5'1", 180 pounds and wearing a red shirt and dark colored pants.
Anyone with information in regards to this missing person is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
Update: Police say that Stanley Frederique, 34, was arrested this morning and charged with abandonment of a child, acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17 and reckless endangerment.
WCBS 2 reports, "Fredeique was apparently intoxicated when he left the child at the restaurant, sources told CBS2. He told police he forgot her, and when he realized the next day she was missing, he tried to report her missing to police, the sources said."
