While last week's weather was well-behaved, this week's is looking complicated. Expect more prevarication from Gothamist than usual! The general weather maker in the near term is a high pressure system off the New England coast. Later in the week it will likely cede its role to an upstart storm developing off the southeastern coast. Both systems will bring cloudy, warm weather and at least the potential for rain.

The heavy deck of clouds this morning may thin a bit this afternoon when the high should reach 60. The sun may make a brief appearance tomorrow, pushing the high up to the mid 60s. Perfect voting weather! Rain moves into the picture maybe as early as tomorrow evening and stays in play until at least Friday. Temperatures will run a few degrees above normal each day probably through Saturday.

Last month was a degree-and-a-half cooler than normal. The coolest October in five years, but only the third month below normal in 2008. Rainfall was not quite a quarter inch below average. The outlook for the next three months around these parts is pretty boring: near normal temperature and near normal precipitation.
