A Queens man appears to have shot his girlfriend in the back of the head last night before turning the gun on himself—a sad story made sadder by the fact the pair were then discovered by their two-year-old son.
Roxanne Lambert, 41, and Everol Ellington, 32, were found in their bedroom in Jamaica, Queens, just after 11:30 p.m. last night by their young son with gunshot wounds to their heads. Lambert's 17-year-son later called 911 from a neighbor's home, according to reports. "Their young son...ran over to my place, asking me to call the police, because 'My mom and dad are dead!'" Renee Bryan, who lives in the home next door, told DNAinfo. The pair were pronounced dead on the scene.
The Daily News reports that, according to friends, the couple—whose meeting five years ago led to the dissolution of Lambert's first marraige—had "a rocky relationship" but tried to "keep any trouble private." Explained neighbor Bryan: "They were hard-working people. They got up and went to work every day ... She was nice. The kids were drawn to her. It's a tragedy."
Lambert's ex, Roy Shaw, was still in shock this morning. "I still don’t believe it, I think everybody is lying to me," the 43-year-old, with whom she had a 17-year-old daughter and a 20-year-old son, said this morning.
