A man was shot in the foot—and an MTA bus was also struck—in a shooting that took place on Madison Avenue near East 104th Street early yesterday evening.
The Daily News reports, "The unidentified gunman pulled the trigger at least five times near the George Washington Carver houses on Madison Ave. and E. 104 St., close to the northeast corner of Central Park, transit officials and police said."
M3 bus driver Egbert James told the News that he tried to get out of the line of fire by hitting the accelerator, "It was a barrage of gunfire. People got scared and were yelling, ‘Get us out of here.’" But two shots hit the bus on the right side. Luckily no passengers were injured.

David Torres
One passenger, Barbara Hines, told WCBS 2, "The bus driver pulled out of 102nd Street, and as he pulled out, we heard a lot of noise... There was complete chaos. The driver stayed calm, of course, and drove the bus to the next bus stop, but people began to scream and fall." She noted that she was in the handicap section in the front, "Had the bullet penetrated, it would have hit me in the head."
Kasheef Queen, 31, was struck in the right foot. Police say he was taken to Weill Cornell in stable condition.
The shooter remains at large.
