Two people died and multiple people were injured when a car traveling in the Bronx Friday rear ended four vehicles, according to police.

An 81-year-old male driver of a white Mercedes Benz was driving westbound on Allerton Avenue, near Holland Avenue, according to the NYPD. The driver was unable to stop when approaching oncoming traffic and first rear-ended two vehicles, police said.

When police arrived at the scene around 2:15 p.m., officers found three unidentified pedestrians who were unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to the head and body, the NYPD said. The pedestrians were transported to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition, but two individuals later died, according to police.

The driver also rear-ended two additional vehicles and all six occupants of the vehicles remained at the scene and were transported to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition, the NYPD said.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
