Just a friendly reminder that everyone that the guy who says he's a cop because wants to take your car for a "test drive" may in fact not actually be a cop!
The police are searching for a suspect wanted for police impersonation and grand larceny auto for an incident that took place at month, on July 8th, in the Bronx. According to the NYPD, at 5:35 p.m., a 31-year-old man had his 2003 black Mercury Mountaineer parked in front of 1703 Jerome Avenue with a for sale sign.
The suspect inquired to the victim about the auto and asked if he could take it for a test drive. The victim was leery, but the suspect displayed, what the victim believed to be, a police shield and informed the victim that he was a police officer. The victim agreed and when he went to get the title to the vehicle, the suspect jumped in the car and drove off. The auto has still not been recovered.
Police released video of the suspect, who is described as being in his early 40s and weighing 300 pounds.
