There are some things you can see or experience anywhere, but others will make you say “only in New York.” Here are some of this year’s top moments in the latter category.
- Where else would you see a full-scale model of New York City?
- The Bronx is home to a huge wholesale fish market that’s attempting to become a premier party venue by day.
- Several niche museums and exhibits debuted, including one dedicated to photobooths, another to pinball machines and a third which is a display of rare geckos.
- This video store is not a museum but does have a very vintage feel.
- This model transformed her Manhattan abode into the Titanic.
- There are so many ways to make friends in this city, including joining clubs like the Association Association and Gladiator NYC.
- New York City is a roommate city, which sometimes means lots of drama. What better way to settle feuds than with a TikTok show?
- The hottest celebrities of the summer? A bunch of baby swans who lived in Prospect Park.
- Business for this organization that brings classical music performances to crypts and catacombs is booming.
- Will New Yorkers open their hearts to a replacement for beloved injury attorneys Cellino and Barnes?
- Only in New York can you see the Wall Street Charging Bull statue and make a wish on his testicles.
Gothamist will be looking back at some of the highlights of the year as 2025 winds down. Keep an eye on this space and sign up for our Early Addition morning newsletter for more.
