A 16-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday and charged in connection with two shootings involving the same 15-year-old victim, including a subway attack this week that left the teen critically wounded, law enforcement officials said.

The teenager faces charges of attempted murder, three counts of assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Officials said the charges relate to Monday's shooting on a Manhattan-bound A train in Ozone Park and a February shooting at a Far Rockaway apartment building, where the same victim was shot in the leg.

Police said the 16-year-old was not the person who pulled the trigger on the train this week. Instead, officials said he brought the gun onto the subway, and during a fight another young person grabbed it and shot the 15-year-old multiple times. That person remains at large.

In the February case, police said the 16-year-old was arrested about 10 days after the shooting but was released after the victim declined to testify.

The Monday shooting happened around 6 p.m. on a northbound A train approaching the 80th Street station, police said. Officers took the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in a police vehicle.

Members of the NYPD’s Neighborhood Safety Team spotted the 16-year-old in Far Rockaway on Wednesday afternoon and recognized him from prior interactions, police said. He was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. within the confines of the 106th Precinct.

The NYPD did not name him because he is a minor.

The teenager was expected to be arraigned on Thursday. Information about his attorney was not immediately available.

The case is being handled in night court and could later be moved to youth court, according to an official with the Queens district attorney’s office.
