Standard Hotel Sexual Assault Case Dropped

Earlier this year, a Brooklyn man was accused of forcing a woman to fellate him in a Standard Hotel restroom and charged with sexual assault and forcible touching. Now, the charges have been dismissed.
According to the Post, "Prosecutors dropped the case against Philip Manning, 34, after an investigation that included interviews with Manning, the alleged victim, and other witnesses, both sides said in Manhattan Criminal Court today." Manning's lawyer said, "There was no truth to it... He's extremely relieved. He's very happy to be exonerated of these charges. He's maintained his innocence from the start."
This is the second rape allegation at the Standard that's been dismissed since the beautiful boutique hotel opened in 2009. Two years ago, a maid accused an Australian businessman of raping her in his room. But he convinced a jury that the maid made up the story after he caught her rifling through his bag. Then he sued the hotel for $10 million, arguing that the hotel's "racy atmosphere contributed to the false charges against him."
