It is looking more and more like we'll get a touch of winter this weekend. First, though, today is going to be mostly sunny and mild with a high in the mid to upper 40s. The high pressure system bringing the mild weather will move offshore later today, paving the way for tonight's storm. That storm is a weak low pressure system over Texas at the moment. It will rapidly move east and then strengthen and move up the coast as the day progresses.
Look for the precipitation to start as rain mixed with snow sometime this evening. That will switch over to all snow as the air cools overnight. The storm is expected to pass just a bit too far to the southeast for much snow to fall on the city. At best the city will see a sad couple of inches of wet snow through Saturday morning. It should be cold and windy, with a high in the upper 30s tomorrow so it will at least feel like winter.
Sunday will feel even more winterlike as Arctic air arrives behind a second cold front. Sunday's high will only reach the mid 30s which, frankly, isn't all that cold. We may see a few flurries, but no additional accumulation, to round out the weekend. Par for this winter's course, temperatures are expected to rebound to near normal on Monday and several degrees above normal for the rest of next week.
