At least six people were killed and multiple others were injured in shootings around Brooklyn, The Bronx and Manhattan this weekend.

According to police, the violence kicked off around 5:45 p.m. Saturday when Julio Yasser, 36, was fatally shot in front of Mr. Lee Cleaners at Church Avenue near Ocean Avenue. The shooter fled in a car. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Around 8 p.m., 25-year-old Nestor Suazo was killed and a 34-year-old woman was critically wounded in a shooting on E. Tremont and Clinton Avenues in The Bronx. Both victims were shot in the torso, and Suazo was declared dead at St. Barnabus Hospital.

Suazo’s cousin, Remanice Martinez, told the News that the unidentified female who was shot had jumped in front of Suazo to try to prevent him from getting shot: "He was a very humble guy in all ways," Martinez said of her cousin." He didn’t start trouble, he didn’t go out looking for trouble ... Sometimes you just get with the wrong crowd, you’re just at the wrong place at the time."

Then just before midnight, 33-year-old Kevin Brye was fatally shot in the head close to the Jefferson Houses on E. 115th Street and First Avenue in East Harlem. He was transported to Metropolitan Hospital, where he later died.

Then around 1:45 a.m., three men were fatally shot outside Fort Greene's Ingersoll Houses. A 43-year-old and a 39-year-old were both shot in the head, and a 76-year-old man was shot in the stomach.

Regarding that incident, City Council Member Laurie Cumbo said in a statement: "We need to pray, bolster the police force dedicated to patrolling NYCHA housing developments, install security cameras, and create or restore access to community centers that will deter our youth who grow up to become adults from deviant behavior," she said.

In addition to these shootings, the News reports there were at least six stabbings and other incidents around the city. That includes three people who were injured at a Bronx house party, in which a 21-year-old man was shot in the face, another man was stabbed, and a 19-year-old was hit in the head with a bottle. All three of those people are expected to survive.

A 26-year-old man was also stabbed in the back and slashed in the face around 3:30 a.m. while another man was shot in the buttocks around 5 a.m. in the South Bronx.

No arrests have been made in any of the cases, and the investigations are ongoing.
