Senator Chuck Schumer is planning to introduce a bill that would make it illegal for anyone to record or distribute images produced by the full-body scanners at airports, which really should have been introduced before the damn things caused so much drama, but better late than never, right? He said, “Anyone who would try to use these images for purposes other than security should be severely punished."
The images are supposed to be deleted 20 seconds after they're taken, and the TSA says the images can't be stored or printed. Independent agencies say there's nothing stopping TSA employees from somehow "misusing" the images; the ACLU writes, "The truth behind this bit of spin is that the jury is still out on the effectiveness of these machines or whether they justify the invasion of privacy involved." Schumer says he's not against the machines, but that "You need to balance security and privacy." So is that for or against labia touching?
