When Rudy Giuliani isn't defending President Donald Trump on cable news, courting foreign governments to score business deals for his security firm, going on anti-Semitic rants about George Soros, butt-dialing reporters while criticizing the Bidens, or making business deals in Ukraine, he is griping about how few friends he has left while allegedly unaware he's still on the phone with a reporter.

In a phone interview with a Daily News reporter, the former New York mayor was asked about an alleged conversation he had with former Governor George Pataki, in which Pataki says Giuliani asked him to cancel the 2001 mayoral election so he could stay in office in the months following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Giuliani denied the conversation ever happened.

"I thought about it for two days, but I never asked him to do it," Giuliani told the News.

But when the interview was over, Giuliani started talking to a guy named Tony (seemingly shocked that Pataki would make the allegation) while the reporter stayed on the line.

"He’s an honorable guy. I can’t believe he would do that," Giuliani said. "I just keep getting disappointed. I got about five friends left."

Pataki's spokesperson said the former governor "stands by" the alleged conversation, according to the News. Pataki includes the conversation in his forthcoming book, Beyond the Great Divide: How A Nation Became A Neighborhood.

In recent months, Giuliani became a part of the Ukraine scandal that led to months-long impeachment trials against Trump. During the investigation, the House discovered Trump and Giuliani were accused of pressuring Ukraine to investigate Trump's political rivals while holding back hundreds of millions of dollars in aid. Weeks after Trump was acquitted, the president reversed previous denials that he had sent Giuliani to Ukraine himself to find dirt on his opponents.

Meanwhile, in New York City late last year, Giuliani's conduct scored him a fake subway ad advertising his legal skills, posted by the comedy duo TGL. "Call CRAZY RUDY," the ad says, noting his "back-channel deals" and that he'll "work for FREE!"
