Despite taking a two-goal lead 6:10 into the game, the Rangers could not hold off the Senators and push them to the brink of elimination. Instead, Ottawa rallied for a 3-2 overtime win, the second such victory in the series, and equaled the conference quarterfinal at two games apiece. Anton Stralman and Ryan Callahan each bagged his second goal of the series, but the Senators tied the game before the end of the second period. After a scoreless third period, Kyle Turris scored the game-winner at the 2:42 mark of overtime. With both their losses coming in overtime, the Rangers have still not played from behind in a game this series. Yet they face a critical Game 5 at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
The Rangers had their chances, but they didn't capitalize. The team has now lost seven straight playoff overtime games. The postseason version of the Rangers has not lived up to the team's regular-season counterparts. But for those looking for bright spots, Henrik Lundqvist is still playing well, and the power play, thanks to two Brad Richards assists, created two goals. The Rangers still have two potential home games left, but they wasted a golden opportunity Wednesday.
