This week's weather can be summed up in one word: cloudyrainycool. The jet stream is constipated with a blocking ridge over the Atlantic. As a result the long waves of the atmosphere are not moving eastward. Instead there's an upper-level trough over the southeastern states that is quickly becoming a cut-off low. That low is just going to churn all week long, bringing cool easterly winds and lots of moisture to the New York region.

Drizzle and fog will be around all day today. There's a chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon into the evening. With all the moisture and east winds the temperature will hold steady in the lower to mid 60s. Heavy rains, and possibly thunderstorms, are likely tomorrow, tomorrow night and Wednesday. We could easily get several inches of rain over the next few days.

The upper-level low looks like it should start moving northward on Thursday. Assuming that happens the chance of rain will begin to diminish and the daytime highs should climb into the lower 70s. Blue skies might reappear on Sunday!
