It’s about to rain on New York City’s good weather parade.

Nearly three weeks of beautiful, clear-skied, mild weather days are coming to an end as a weather system moving through the area Thursday and Friday will bring cloudy skies and rainfall, according to the National Weather Service.

Local weather account New York Metro Weather, gives a daily weather vibes rating on X from 0 to 10. The account's been doling out 8s, 9,s and 10s from Oct. 19 through Nov. 3, with Wednesday receiving a 7 — an indication of the vibe shift to come.

John Homenuk, who runs the account, said that’s due to a persistent high pressure system that’s hung out over the area which no storm has yet been able to push away.

“When you have a stretch like this, it really is enjoyable,” he said. “It's not just one or two days and you have to kinda force yourself outside to go do something, you know? You have some options and the forecast is good for a while. So it's really nice, and you get to spend quite a bit of time outside. ”

Conditions are expected to stay dry through Wednesday with temperatures approaching 70 degrees in some parts of the city, but the National Weather Service predicts cloudy skies by the evening. A low pressure weather system approaching the area will likely bring showers in the first half of Thursday, which will be mostly cloudy with a high near 74, according to the National Weather Service.

Homenuk said he doesn’t expect “anything crazy” but the system will bring more humidity to the area and slightly cooler temperatures this weekend.

Things get a little more bleak Friday, with showers and possible thunderstorms after 1 p.m., and a high near 70 degrees, according to the NWS. The total rainfall will likely be under half an inch, which helps the area get closer to normal for the season after getting just half the normal amount of rain for October, NWS meteorologist John Murray said.

“ It could potentially be some heavy rain at times, it is possible Friday and into Friday night,” he said. “Could have some minor flooding here and there especially in your poor drainage, low-lying areas.”

But nothing lasts forever, even cold November rain. Conditions will be drier through Saturday and Sunday, though the chances of rain won’t be completely gone, and temperatures will remain unseasonably warm throughout the weekend, Murray said.
