Authorities say a 50-year-old Brooklyn man tried to kill a fellow E train rider Saturday, stabbing him during an argument over a noisy cellphone conversation.
Johnny Wood has been charged with attempted murder, assault and weapons offenses over the incident, which Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said happened around 11 a.m. at the Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer station.
Katz said the 54-year-old victim was at the center of the train waiting to depart, when he asked Wood to stop talking loudly on his cellphone.
Wood then took out a knife and stabbed the victim once in the ribcage area before getting off the train, the DA said. Authorities say Wood fled after the altercation, but was arrested in Brooklyn Tuesday.
The victim was taken to a local hospital to treat broken ribs, a stab wound and an injury to his chest, Katz said.
Queens Criminal Court Judge Sharifa Nasser-Cuellar remanded Wood back into custody. He’s due back in court Friday.
"Every New Yorker knows how important it is to be able to travel on mass transit safely,” Katz said in a statement.
