President Obama, on the heels of what professional Beltway hyperventilators have called "one of the most significant, if not THE most significant accomplishment, for this president," is set to visit Ground Zero on Thursday to "honor the victims of the September 11 attacks" and "meet with the families of the victims."
Ground Zero and the President haven't always shared a news cycle so chummily: when the controversy over the "Mosque at Ground Zero" bubbled over last year, Obama seemed to waffle between his support for "the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property," and the noisy NIMBY sentiment that prompted his walk-back of those comments. Obama's last public appearance at Ground Zero came during the 2008 campaign, as he and Senator McCain paid their respects on the 7th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
