"When you get to be my age kid you stop caring about this crap. Nobody is going to arrest me for buying some 'dope' so what do I care if it is legal for you or not?"

Last week, as medical marijuana dispensaries opened in the Garden State, we learned that a 55 percent majority of Americans support legalizing weed. Today a new Quinnipiac poll shows that those numbers hold here in the Empire State. In fact, with the exception of old folks, every age group in the state supports legalizing pot. You listening Governor Cuomo? It's the sound of Freedom Rock—turn it, up, man!

According to today's poll, New Yorkers as a whole support legalizing marijuana 51 to 44 percent. And with 56 percent in favor men support the idea much more than women (47 percent in favor). Understandably those young whippersnappers between 18 and 29 are the biggest fans of the idea, supporting it 62 percent to 34 percent. Meanwhile the big numbers on the opposition side come from people over 65 years, who oppose legalization 56 percent to 37 percent.

But the issue isn't just about age. Where you live seems to make a difference in your opinion on the idea. Those who live in NYC, the marijuana arrest capital of the world, support legalizing bud 54 percent to 43 percent. In the suburbs the numbers decline to 50 percent for, 44 percent against. And upstate? Well, upstate 49 percent support the idea and 44 percent oppose.

Not the worst set of numbers for all those Big Weed lobbyists up in Albany to put in their pipes.
