Police are searching for a man they say sexually assaulted a woman in Central Park on Saturday night.

The attack happened near East 66th Street and Fifth Avenue at about 8:30 p.m., according to the NYPD. The victim, a 39-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital, police said. No arrests had been made as of Monday, according to police.

Details about the man, who police said fled the scene, remain limited, but investigators believe he is in his 30s. Police said he was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black sweatpants and carrying a black backpack.

When asked about the incident Monday morning, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said his “administration is working to ensure that the survivor has the support that she needs to navigate the next steps.”
