Earlier this week, police officers in the Bronx helped rescued nearly two dozen dogs from a filthy, hot SUV. And now these cuties need homes!
The police had received calls about a Mercedes-Benz SUV with dogs inside at Edison Avenue and Middletown Road. When officers got there, the NYPD says, "they witnessed 22 dogs also inside the small truck with a 54-year-old woman. After speaking with the woman, it was determined that she was emotionally disturbed and she was taken to a local hospital for evaluation."
The puppies were "living in terrible filth and temperatures in the car were dangerously high," the authorities explained, and officers worked with rescued groups Adore-a-Bullie and Bobbi and the Strays to shelter the dogs.
It's believed the dogs lived their entire lives in the car, and many of them were in poor health. One rescuer said, "She had the German shepherd kind of crated really to the back and the rest of them were just loose all over the place."
Now, PIX11 reports, rescue workers say "the pups are growing stronger and are becoming accustomed to being outside of the car. They are also being watched over by the German shepherd named Bruno."
You can help by donating and offering to adopt or foster a dog—Adore-a-Bullie and Bobbi and the Strays.
