If it's the weekend, it must be time for NYC Transit to work on the subways! You can check out the details for your line at MTA.info—because there's work on 15 lines— but here are some highlights of what you'll have to endure:
For the L, there are "No trains between 8 Av and 14 St-Union Sq. Take the M14 or free shuttle buses instead," all through the weekend, "11:30 PM Fri to to 5 AM Mon, Mar 4 - 7." (The L isn't stopping at 3rd Avenue either). The N to Astoria is rerouted along the D and the N to Coney Island is skipping 30 Av, Broadway, 36, and 39 Avs. The Bay Ridge-bound R is rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge from Canal St to DeKalb Av (and it's skipping City Hall, Rector, Whitehall, Court Sts, and Jay St-MetroTech Stations; take the 4 instead!).
