The Today show aired another part of Matt Lauer's interview with Alaska Governor and Sarah Palin. This one includes Lauer asking about Palin's infamous interview with Katie Couric and whether she think President-elect Obama can handle the crisis in Iraq. Yesterday's interview (video after the jump) had Palin discussing the rumors about the $150,000 wardrobe and why the McCain-Palin ticket lost, "I think the economic collapse had a heckuva lot more to do with the campaign's collapse than me personally."
Lauer also asked her if she would go for Ted Stevens's Senate seat, in case the convicted Senator wins his re-election (there's a recount, since Stevens leads by 3,000-some votes but there are still 90,000 votes to be counted), and she said she thinks Alaska would want her to be governor. On the Tonight Show, John McCain defended Palin, "I'm so proud of her and I'm very grateful she agreed to run with me. She inspired people, she still does. I couldn't be happier with Sarah Palin."
The previously media-shy (or extremely over-managed) Republican vice presidential candidate has been talking up a storm in the wake of the election: She has given a number of interviews--with the Anchorage Daily News (part 1, parts 2 & 3) and Fox News' Greta Van Susteren (read the interview here, you can see clips here)--and will even give a news conference while in Miami for the Republican Governors Association meeting.
As for 2012, she told Van Susteren, "I'm like, OK, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, I'm like, don't let me miss the open door. And if there is an open door in '12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door." In other words, doors, you are warned!
