Two of the state's largest COVID-19 vaccination centers in Brooklyn and Queens will open Wednesday.

The new sites are located at Brooklyn's Medgar Evers College and York College in Queens. Appointments are available online for those eligible to get a shot, with nearby residents in the boroughs prioritized first.

New Yorkers can check if they are eligible for a shot at the state's Am I Eligible website here. As of Sunday afternoon, thousands of appointments were showing up as available, according to a review of availability by Gothamist.

The two sites will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Both sites are aimed to help bring the vaccine to areas where few New Yorkers are getting vaccinated. City and state data has shown major racial and geographic disparities in who is getting a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine since the program began in mid-December.

3,000 doses a day are slated to be administered at each site, but it isn't clear how soon the state-run site can ramp up to that capacity. Governor Andrew Cuomo previously said the new FEMA-run sites will get a separate allocation of doses.

But as of Sunday morning, NYC had fewer than 1,000 first doses of the vaccine remaining due to weather delays. More dosages were expected to arrive on Monday, according to the NYC Health Department. The state's weekly allocation was also delayed due to winter storms around the country.

For the first week, the new state sites are for those in specific ZIP codes where there are "low vaccination rates in counties and boroughs." After a week, each borough's site will be for all eligible residents in that borough.

If you're vaccine eligible and live in the ZIP codes 11206, 11221, 11216, 11238, 11225, 11213, 11233, 11207, 11208, 11236, 11212, 11203, 11226, or 11210, you will get priority for an appointment at Medgar Evers College at 231 Crown Street.

On 160-2 Liberty Avenue at York College, vaccine eligible residents in the ZIP codes 11418, 11419, 11420, 11435, 11436, 11439, 11432, 11433, 11434, 11423, 11412, 11413, 11427, 11428, 11429, 11411, 11422, 11691, 11692, or 11693 will get priority.

"COVID highlighted unacceptable injustices that have plagued our society, including health access disparities—and these new sites will help us protect the communities that have suffered the most," Cuomo said in a statement.

Appointments for new sites in Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, and Yonkers will go online Wednesday for vaccinations beginning March 3rd, according to Cuomo's office. Those sites can administer 1,000 doses a day.
