The police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to rape a woman in Williamsburg's Southside on Labor Day.
The incident took place around 7:45 a.m. on September 3rd. According to the NYPD, a 42-year-old woman was followed into an apartment building in the vicinity of Berry Street and South 10th Street, where he"proceeded to physically attack the victim by placing his hand over her mouth and attempted to sexually assault her."
The woman was able to fight off this attack and the suspect eventually "fled on South 10th Street towards Berry Street, and made a left towards Broadway to parts unknown," police say. The victim was not physically injured in the attack.
The suspect is described as being about 5'9" and 160-170 pounds with a slim build and close-cut hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and black sneakers, a baseball hat, and a cross body bag. Authorities also released surveillance video of the suspect:
Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
