NYPD officials said the agency will be conducting “aggressive enforcement” against speeding and drunken driving this New Year's weekend.

Police warned Thursday that they will be patrolling on highways and streets where drivers are known to speed.

“Heading into the new year, all New Yorkers must make a collective commitment to prioritize safety on our roadways,” NYPD Commissioner Edward A. Caban, wrote in an email statement. “Public safety is a shared responsibility, and the life you save could be your own.”

Speaking at NYPD headquarters, Taxi and Limousine Commissioner David Do said there are plenty of taxis in the city for anyone who might need a designated driver.

“If you plan on drinking, you’re in the greatest city in the world when it comes to getting home safely,” Do said. “Whether it’s a yellow or green cab. Whether it’s a community car service or a for-hire vehicle like Uber and Lyft, you have 100,000 options in New York City.”

The MTA said in a statement that it wants people to use mass transit. It’s running extra service on Sunday for New Year’s Eve revelers.

Riders can expect more trains on the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, C, D, L N, Q and R lines. The shuttle to Times Square will also be running more frequently. All of the other lines will be running on a regular Sunday schedule.

The MTA also said some Times Square subway station exits may be closed by the NYPD during New Year’s Eve.

On Monday, the subways will run on a Sunday schedule.

Buses will also run on a Sunday schedule this Sunday and Monday.

You can check subway and bus schedules at the MTA website.
