A woman was raped by a man who allegedly forced his way into her Brooklyn apartment early Friday morning. Investigators have now released footage of the subject in the vicinity, in hopes the public can help identify him.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on July 13th, at an apartment near 52nd Street and 7th Avenue in Sunset Park. According to the NYPD, the man knocked on the 34-year-old victim's door and forced his way in after she opened it. He allegedly made her go into her bedroom, "produced a handgun and raped her."
When the man demanded cash, police say the victim complied; he took $500 before restraining her arms with a sweater and fled.
The victim managed to free herself and call 911.
The suspect is described as being in his 30s and 5'8" with a medium build. He has tattoos on his left arm and was carrying a messenger bag.
Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
