The NYPD is trying to track down two men they believe have stolen thousands of dollars worth of over-the-counter medication from a number of drugstores on the Upper East and West Sides on multiple occasions earlier this year.
According to police, the two suspects stole medication from Duane Reades and Rite Aids as many as ten times, starting last November up until May. Each time, cops say the men entered the establishment, took medication off store shelves, and fled. Robbed drugstores include a Duane Reade on 88th and Broadway, a Rite Aid at 2nd Ave and East 80th Street, a Duane Reade at 64th and Columbus and another Duane Reade at 90th and 1st Ave, among others.
Cops believe the thieves stole over $1,000 worth of medication at a time, and on one occasion stole as much as $3,394 worth of drugs. Spoils allegedly total about $18,705. Authorities describe the suspects as two black males in their 20s.
Anyone with information in regards to these incidents is asked to call Crime stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
