NYPD officers shot a man in the Bronx on Monday afternoon after he fired at them, police said.
The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. near 2657 Bainbridge Ave. in the Kingsbridge Heights section of the Bronx, police said. The NYPD advised the public to avoid the area and expect road closures and delays.
A firearm was recovered at the scene, authorities said. Officials said the man was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital in stable condition.
The NYPD plans to hold a news conference in the coming hours to provide more information about the shooting.
