A 61-year-old man was mugged and beaten in an attack caught on security camera in a Bronx subway station early Monday morning.

The incident took place around 4:40 a.m., on Jun 18th, at the Pelham Parkway/White Plains Road 2/5 subway station. According to the NYPD, the victim walked by the female suspect who asked him for money. The victim ignored her, and then she apparently signaled to a second suspect, a male, to follow the victim.

When the male suspect caught up the victim, police say he "punched him in the face numerous times before he dragged him down the stairs to the street. Once on the street, both individuals punched the victim and attempted to remove his bag from around his shoulders."

The victim struggled against his attackers until a passerby intervened. The NYPD says the male suspect took $20 from the victim's pants' pocket before he and the female suspect fled the scene on foot southbound on White Plains Road. The victim was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital for his injuries.

The authorities released video of the attack and suspects:

Police described the female as last wearing a light colored hooded sweater and dark colored pants and said the male suspect, who had a beard, was last seen wearing a light colored shirt, shorts and white socks.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
