The NYPD on Sunday announced it would deploy resources to houses of worship and “sensitive locations” throughout the city following the Iranian missile attack in Israel over the weekend
According to a statement posted to social media, the NYPD is continuing to “closely monitor recent events in Israel," but said there are no credible threats to security in New York City.
The NYPD did not clarify exactly which resources would be sent out, or which houses of worship would receive additional security.
Iranian authorities said Saturday's attack on Israel was a direct response to a deadly airstrike of an Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria two weeks ago.
The conflict in Gaza has left more than 30,000 Palestinians killed since Israel began its bombardment on the strip, according to the latest figures by the Associated Press. The bombing campaign began after Oct. 7th, where Hamas militants killed 1,200 Israelis in a surprise attack.
