It might almost be time to ditch those deep-winter jackets — but not the umbrellas.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will warm up into the 50s this week in the New York area, from highs in the 30s on Monday. They should be in the mid-to-upper 50s by Wednesday and Thursday.
But a storm throughout the day Wednesday could dump around an inch of rain on the region, accompanied by gusty winds, National Weather Service meteorologist James Tomasini said.
“The rain could be moderate to heavy at times,” he said. “Then after Thursday morning, we dry out for the rest of the week.”
Wind gusts are also expected Thursday night through Friday, when temperatures could dip back down into the 40s. Tomasini said that’s about normal for this time of year.
“For our New York City climate sites, the [average] highs are in the mid-40s, and then lows are in the lower 30s,” he said.
Saturday could bring another chance of rain, with temperatures again in the high 40s to low 50s, according to the National Weather Service.
