The unofficial start of summer is shaping into a rainy first week.
Multiple rounds of showers are ahead for the New York City area into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Starting early Wednesday, there will be consistent potential for rain through Saturday afternoon, NWS meteorologist Matthew Wunsch said.
“We remain in this kind of unsettled pattern pretty much through at least the beginning of the weekend,” he said.
The forecast calls for clouds to clear slowly at that time, followed by some sunshine Sunday.
Wunsch said this spring has so far been rainier and cooler than previous springs due to a barrage of low-pressure systems sweeping the region.
“We haven't really had a good warmup so far this year,” he said.
