New York City saw its heaviest snowfall of the season Saturday night into Sunday morning, leaving more than three inches of powder across the city in what meteorologists warn is just the beginning of a snowy week.
The National Weather Service said Central Park recorded 3.1 inches of snow, while LaGuardia Airport saw 3.6 inches and JFK Airport recorded 3.4 inches. Newark Liberty International Airport reported 3 inches.
It marked the first time since Feb.13 of last year the city saw more than 3 inches of snow from a single storm, according to the NWS.
NWS meteorologists said some of the snow would melt on Sunday as temperatures in the city rise up to 40 degrees, but said to brace for even more wintry weather later in the week. They’re forecasting more snow on Tuesday night.
The last time the city saw more than 4 inches of snow from a single storm was in 2022 when a blizzard dumped more than 7 inches on Central Park, according to the NWS.
