fort tottenThe National Weather Service is giving a shout out to northern Queens in their morning forecast, saying "Windy and mild with highs in the mid 60s...Except upper 60s in northern queens"

While everyone in Steinway, College Point and Beechurst will be enjoying the spring weather, the rest of us won't exactly be chilly. A warm front snuck through in the middle of the night and much of the area will be seeing near-record warmth today. If it is too hot for you try Coney Island. The breeze off the cold ocean will keep temperatures down near the shore.

And breezy it will be! The Weather Service has issued a high wind advisory for this afternoon. Gusts will be close to 50 mph a little after the lunch hour. But, wait, there's more! The high temperatures, high winds and dry ground are perfect fire hazard weather. The problem is particularly acute in northeastern New Jersey, where temperatures are expected to reach into the 70s (take that northern Queens!).

The high winds signal the approach of a cold front. It ain't much of a cold front, however. Tomorrow will be very nice, sunny with a high around 60. Sunday will be about the same but with a slight chance of a thunderstorm. The warmth and chance of thunderstorms persist through Tuesday, before we cool back down to seasonable levels on Wednesday.
