The naked man who was found dead in the lobby of a Starrett City apartment building earlier this week was apparently one side of an ill-fated love triangle—authorities have since also found his dead lover after the woman's enraged husband stabbed them both to death upon discovering their tryst.
Police sources tell the Daily News that 35-year-old Jerome Barrett and 36-year-old Jonelle Barker were both stabbed to death by Barker's husband, 48-year-old Steve Whittingham, after he found them having sex in Barrett's car early Wednesday morning.
Barrett, clinging to his clothes, managed to escape to the nearby apartment's lobby, but perished from his injuries just after 1 a.m. Authorities discovered Barrett's car in Brownsville a day later, with Barker's naked body stuffed in the trunk.
Barrett and Barker were both luggage handlers at JFK, and were believed to have been having an affair.
Whittingham was arrested Thursday, and has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of first-degree murder.
