Teresa Foster, the mother of a two-year-old fatally beaten by her boyfriend for not reciting his ABCs properly, is currently being held on assault and endangerment charges at Rikers Island for admitting to repeatedly beating her son, Aiyden Davis, with a belt. However, she was allowed to attend her son's funeral yesterday, where the Daily News reports there was a palpable tension between her and Aiyden's father's family. "I still don't understand a 31-year-old man beating on my grandchild," said Aiyden's paternal grandmother, Stephanie Pratt.
Foster's boyfriend, Reginald Williams, is charged with second-degree murder for beating Aiyden so hard "his own hands hurt" on September 13th. Foster admitted to repeatedly beating her son, and an autopsy showed Aiyden suffered a lacerated liver, which is consistent with being struck by a belt. She also admitted she gave Williams permission to "discipline" her son.
Aiyden's father, Ameen Foster, said of his son, "He was the best. He gave me the best years of my life." He previously said he had no idea Teresa was dating Williams, or that his child was being routinely beaten. Teresa is being held in lieu of $150,000 bail, but a friend yelled at the funeral, "We're going to help you get out of this mess!"
